I think there are definitely movies that were better than the book. I admit, however, it's usually the books that were written to be movies that wind up in this category. "Willow" is one of the better examples I can think of, and I think it's because the action was written fairly poorly in the text and played out fairly well in the movie (for an 80s flick). "Breakfast at Tiffany's" is another, in my opinion, but I think that's far more debateable.
Have you ever bought a book based on its cover? Was it worth it?

Prolly Larry Gelbart-era MASH.The work is so brilliant.Mr. Gelbart could've writen for Groucho in any Marx Bros. film.Alan Alda even delivers the lines(in that era) like Groucho. He barely needed the G.M. imitation in Yankee Doodle Doctor!Cheers is great, too. The story is as epic as anything in literature. The weaving in and out of the Sam & Dianne story, plus the later Robin Colcorde storyline,is an inspiration to my own story-telling desires, particularly in my attempts at comic books. Q:Has the movie ever been better than the book,or is only the oposite true?Examples?

Umm, hi. Just wandered over from StP. THought I'd answer this one.
Yes, I have and yes, it was. I bought (without knowing anything about it) Pride and Prejudice because the cover was pretty (once I'd taken off the dust cover that is). Now, I adore Jane Austen.
Do you argue out loud with books?

Yes, often. Especially with comic books. I yell when I don't agree with them.
Do you think that there is one voice that can be identified as the "voice of a generation?"

only on the History Channel, in the anniversary retrospect of an era. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif.
what written work do you want to write the screenplay for and why?

Smart-ass answer: Hamlet.
Serious answers: either Warlock, (the greatest western of all time) by Oakley Hall or Works & Days.
What is the one book that everyone should read?
-
i tried debating this question FOREVER. in the end, there wasnt a "serious" book that i could realistically, and truthfully answer that i think that everyone should answer. so im gonna say: The 544 Little Peices of Advice (or soemthign like that..) It's pretty much my Bible and I think that if more people read it and tried to live life in a good manner like that, the world would be a better place. But my personal answer would be "Jack Frusciante has Left The Band" or "High Fidelity".
If you are a writer, do you prefer writing at a computer, at a typewriter, or on paper? If paper, do you prefer pens or pencils?

Used to be paper. Definitely a computer now. When I do write on paper, it's with pen, black ink only.
If you were to become published and well-known, what kind of work would you want to represent you?
-
Something along a Psychological SCI FI drama. Really character oriented.
What kind of writting style appeals to you the most? (and no, "the good ones" is not an acceptable answer. I want a real answer)

Something with a strong plot and sympathetic characters. And yes, it has to have both. I'm not interested in characterization, no matter how strong, if it doesn't go anywhere. Basically, I like to see interesting people doing interesting things.
If you could edit any one character out of the Bible, who would it be?
